Federative Research Structure François Bonamy

A- A+ Aa

Under the joint authority of the University of Nantes, INSERM, CNRS and University Hospital, the Federative Research Structure (FRS) François Bonamy (FED 4203 / Inserm UMS 016/CNRS 3556) replaces the Federative Research Institute (IFR26) created in 1995. It brings together the research units and laboratories of the local health cluster around a common scientific strategy, via a scientific policy taking into account the specificities of each structure and organizes, among other things, a synergy for optimum and harmonized use of technical expertise and equipment resources.

The evaluation in 2011 by the AERES French evaluation agency of the FRS shows the main contribution of this federal structure for the development of research in biology or cognitive therapy.
All the research teams within SFR belong to the faculties of medicine, pharmacy, dentistry and science. In its current configuration, SFR Health manages 9 platforms, 5 labeled IBISA and 8 other smaller technical platforms;

ITS OBJECTIVES

FRS François Bonamy aims to :
  •  consolidate and develop new technical platforms,
  •   develop internal and external communication (between research organizations and site health promotion of scientific knowledge), economic valuation (entrepreneurship) and related training with institutional partners of the FRS,
  •   contribute to the development of a common and shared policy for the development of health research at the Nantes site.
Potentially, the organization of a complete line of equipments ranging from basic research to clinical trials through animal testing should become a strong structural element of the health research in Nantes.

THE AREAS OF RESEARCH

Major scientific axes have been developed during the last decade, and especially during the last four-years. Today, the landscape of health research is organized in four main areas:
  •     Cancer (immunology and immunotherapy, cytokines, and targeted therapy oncogenesis, development and targeting of new biomoleculs vectorization and tumor radiobiology, tumor biomarkers)
  •    Cardiovascular, respiratory, hepato-gastroenterology and nutrition (genetics and pathophysiology cardiovascular and nutritional risk factors for cardiovascular disease, respiratory diseases and the physiological control of digestive functions)
  •    Immunointervention transplantation (immunology of transplantation of organs or cells, mechanisms of induction and maintenance of immune tolerance to allografts, fundamental aspects of the activation of the endothelial cell xenografts in a model pig / primate gene transfer and tolerance after gene transfer),
  •   Musculoskeletal system, Dentistry and Biomaterials (musculoskeletal physiology and dental regenerative medicine bone and cartilage bone cancer).
  • There are also a transverse axis on Biotherapies axis and an emerging axis on Infectious Diseases, being structured around teams recently integrated within the SFR Health.
